Use of Have / Has With Groups/Teams/Companies

Hi,

Can you advise what to use in this circumstance?

- Manchester United has / have won the champions league.

I guess the question is, how do we treat groups/teams/companies etc? As a singular or plural entities?

Thanks in advance,

Padraig

Hi, You can do it both ways, depending on whether you are thinking of it as a single entity or as a group of individuals. Generally speaking, when in doubt use the singular form. Clive
