Use of hardly

hello, I have to re-write the following sentence: we seldom think about the consequences of our actions. I have to use HARDLY at the beginning and the word THINK. The problem is that if I use inversion the sentence is: Hardly do we think about............etc. and after HARDLY past perfect must be used, so it is incorrect. What do you think?
