I am reading in a grammar that it is often possible to replace noun X+of+noun Y (eg the walls of the town)by noun Y + noun X in that order: the town walls. What's about a plural form, eg "the walls of the towns"? Can I say "the towns walls"? As for the same grammar this is a mistake. Thank you in advance for your help.
Top answer
We almost never inflect adjectives. "Town" stays the same no matter how many walls there are. "
