Use of feed off

Hello,

I have great trouble understanding the use of this expression. Especially since it can get much figurative instead of literal. Please let me know what you think of the subject within this particular context :

1. I feed off the dark.

2. I feed off of the dark.

3. I feed off from the dark.

Are these all usable syntaxes ?
