Use of dynamics or dynamic

0Usually, "dynamic" is used as an adjective, but I recently found that it is also used as a noun. Are dynamic and dynamics interchangeable when dynamic is used as a noun? Can dynamics be used as a singular noun? Should we say "this dynamic" or "this dynamics" in "this dynamic works in both directions"? The former sounds a little awkward. I always expect a noun after dynamic. Any help would be highly appreciated.0-
