Use of 'dress' for men

Hi

Long ago, I was told by a native speaker of English that the word dress is used for women mostly. But I often come across sentences like these:

(Are these sentences natural?)

  1. From his dress, one could tell that...
  2. We all knew that he had no dress sense.
  3. We could judge from his dress that he was a rich man.
  4. His dress is always very formal.

Thanks,

Tom

Mr. Tom mostly If you look the word up, you will see that it is a way of saying "clothing", "garb" or "attire" applied to either ***. But applied to women, it can easily be confused with the garment, so I would say the opposite, that it is mostly applied to men.
