Is the grammar in the sentence below correct? Is it understandable? Thanks.

You had "canal" before", and now it's "pathway". I think you want "channel". I am having trouble picturing what you mean, though, because I can scarcely believe that there is an open drainage channel in the floor of an interior hallway.
