Use of double

Hi

Is this use of double common and natural in everyday English?

My drawing room doubles as a study.
The  kitchen doubles as a dining room.

Can we also say?

I double my drawing room as a study.

Thanks,

Tom

If the room doubles as, then it's got two uses. If you double the room, you've reconstructed it to make it twice as big.

Thanks, deadrat.

Then it means there is nothing like "I double my room as a study." in correct English? Am I right?
