Use of continuing

I am writing an essay, and I construct my arguments.
So, is the following use of continuing correct?
Does it make sense?

"Continuing, one of the most important factors that..."

It's a bit unusual, and you certainly can't start your essay with this, but it might make sense. Also, "To continue".

What are you continuing from? An interspersed somewhat parenthetical paragraph perhaps, that interrupts the flow of your essay?

"Continuing, one of the most important factors that points to ElasticSearch is the ability to run fuzzy queries."

My sentences have technical terminology, thats why I usually don't post them!

I have trouble with "factors point to." You can have evidence that points to some solution (eg a criminal)
Perhaps you mean this:
One of the most important reasons for selecting / using / installing ElasticSearch is its ability to run fuzzy queries.

As CJ said before, "continuing" adds no content.
