Use of compunction

May I please get guidance on whether the following sentence uses the word "compunction" correctly? I have confused myself; can a person have too much of a negative feeling?

-- She desires to be a femme fatale, but has too much compunction.--

Top answer

The sentence may be correct, but I think a lot of English-speaking people would not understand it. First, the words "femme fatale" are actually French, even though they are used in the English language. Second, the word "compunction" is not widely used.

"Compunction" is almost always used in the plural -- she has too many compunctions, not "too much compunction."
