Hi,

It depends on the structure and length of the sentence, and on the placing of the phrase..

Would you like to post a few sentences for comments?

In my leisure time, I like to go hiking, swimming, fishing as well as sailing. Or, I enjoy eating as well as cooking. With this form of construction, the phrase is treated like a conjunction; no comma is needed before the firtst "as".

Thanks Clive!

What if I take the same sentence and use a comma after "finshing"? Some consider this form a correct usage. What is your opinion?
Clive I like to go hiking, swimming, fishing, as well as sailing.

Thanks!
