Use of bound

Hi

Is the use of bound natural here? Any other better options?

After her convincing story, I was bound to trust her.

After he cheated me, I was bound to distrust him.

Thanks,

Tom

PS: distrust or mistrust?

Either. They're almost the same. One dictionary says 'mistrust' is a feeling that you shouldn't trust someone while 'distrust' is not trusting someone.
