Use of 'as such' in a specific sentence

I'm writing a personal statement for a university application and would like to get this sentence right.

I write "and, as such, .....". How should I arrange the punctuation?

For example (a highly simplified version of the sentence): "This university is good at this, and, as such, I would like to study at this university"

Top answer

The phrase should not be used at all there; it is stilted and stuffy and not quite logical. This university is good at this , so I would like to study at there.

This appears to be over-burdened by commas, but I think a traditionalist would approve. I would probably eliminate the comma after this, and as such, would be criticized by many.
