Use of an article

Hello!

I encountered the sentence below in a blog. The blog is written by a native English speaker, of course.

>Most hamburger buns are an enriched white bread, which is ridiculously simple to make, and rolls are so much quicker to bake than large loaves.

I wonder why "an" is used for "enriched white bread" because buns are plural and also bread is uncountable.

I thought it should be "Most hamburger buns are enriched white bread"

or if I should use an article, "Most hamburger buns are enriched white breads"

Could you please explain?
