Use of aid in Plural form

Hello Everyone,

Please is it correct to say, "the ship was carrying aids to gaza when it was stormed"

aids seems like a disease, though releif aid(s) was meant in this context . Thanks in advance!

aid - an abstract or general term for 'help'. eg The government sent aid to the earthquake victims.

aids - things that help, eg He wears two hearing aids.

No, sounds odd.

The word 'aid', meaning a thing, is usually used more specifically, in a sentence or context which makes clear what the specific thing is, and what it aids.



It also is not usually used when the thing has another name.

eg You could say tha
