Use of adverbs

I have been provided with the given section, and I need to correct the grammatical errors.

Not even his beloved Elisabeth could persuade him to remove it or to divulge the cause. In whatever office he ministered, Hooper’s face remained covered. Even his deathbed and grave still found him with the vail on his face

The revised section:

Not even his beloved Elisabeth could persuade him to remove it or to divulge the cause. In whatever office he ministered, Hooper’s face remained covered. Even his deathbed and grave found him with the veil on his face.

The word "still" was omitted, given that the employment of the adverbs "even" and "still" in the same sentence seemed incorrect.

Should "still" be omitted?

Is the revision satisfactory?

Are any other changes necessary?
