Use of a and an before acronyms

Is there a right answer to this? Do you use 'a' or 'an' before an acronym when you are writing it down? Eg would you write 'I bought an XBox' or 'I bought a XBox'?

Hope you can help.

Hi, Say 'an'. It's based on the initial sound, for both acronyms and non-acronyms. ( I thought Xbox was simply the product name, and not an acronym.
