Usages of procure in [procure a $4 million contract/ a business deal]

I have made up the sentences below.

(1) Jack had considered retirement because no movie companies were interested in him. However, after many unsuccessul attempts, he managed to procure a $4 million movie contract yesterday.

(2) We haven't had any business for months. We have been contacting a lot of companies in hopes of procuring a large business deal before we close down.

Is it okay to use "procure" in these contexts? Thank you very much for your time and help.
