USAGE OF WOULDN'T

Hi every body,I am having a problem with WOULN'T, I would like to ask for a favor to understand the function of WOULN'T in this sentenceContext is that a man tell a woman about his mother:"You should know that my mother always love me. There isn't anything she WOULDN'T do for me"Why is WOULDN'T used in this sentence?What is the difference between 2 sentences:(1)There isn't anything she WOULDN'T do for me.(2)There isn't anything she DON'T do for me.Many thanks for your help in advance.

I think you mean the contraction of the modal verb "would" and the negative "not."

Do you know the modal verbs?

Would is a modal verb. It is often used in conditional sentences.

"Would" is also used for a less strong meaning of "will".

Sarah is smart and strong and friendly.
If you asked her to help you, she would.

Nell is not friendly at all.
If you asked her to help you, she would not.
If you asked her to help you, she wouldn't.

My mother loves me.
She will do anything for me.
She would do anything for me.

Your example is a cleft sentence. Have you studied cleft sentences? They are used for emphasis on a particular element of the sentence. It is very advanced English grammar.

The sentence "She would do anything for me." can be changed for much more emphasis. The new sentence is a cleft sentence. It begins with the dummy subject "there."

Change "anything" to "nothing" and "would" to "would not".

There is nothing that she would not do for me. = She would do anything for me.

Other examples:

1. Sheila has everything in the world. It is very hard to find a gift for her.

Cleft sentence: everything => nothing

There is nothing that Sheila needs or wants.    It is very hard to find a gift for her.

2. Harry understands everything  that the teacher says.

Cleft sentence:

There isn't anything the teacher says that Harry doesn't understand.
