Usage of will and would

Hi Dear

I have been reading a prayer book and got a question about usage of will and would.

Please read the following 2 setenteces.

ex1) Lord, I pray that You would bring my wife and me to a new place of unity with one another.

ex2) Lord, I pray that You will give my wife the fulfillment of knowing You in a deeper and richer way.

I don't know when I use would or will like abovesentence.

Please let me know which is better usage and when I had better use would or will.

I appreciate any reply in advance.

I think that would is more tentative. Lord, if it's your desire to do so, then I hope... Will is a more direct request or a more firm statement of your own desire.

  • I think that would is more tentative.
  • Lord, if it's your desire to do so, then I hope...
  • Will is a more direct request or a more firm statement of your own desire.
  • You pray that he WILL do this.
  • For what it's worth, I believe *** listens to what's in our hearts and not what come from our mouths, so the grammatical aspects aren't too important in this case.
