Please take a look at the following two sentence.

John is checking out at the counter when he decide to take a ***.

When John is checking out at the counter, he decide to take a ***.

Which sentence is correct in grammar? If the both are correct in grammar, do they convey the same meaning"

As I have told you elsewhere, notatall, the situation you are talking about is so unlikely that it is not worth wasting time on. Most normal people do not decide to defecate while they are waiting to pay for the goods they have selected.

The sentences are fine.
They are just different ways to say the same thing, by changing the main clause to a dependent clause, and the dependent clause to the main clause.
