Usage of vocabulary in sentences

The famous composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Lived during the 18th century; a time of great political upheaval, revolution and global colonization. It was a both a blessing and curse to be born during those times. I feel there is something not quote right with the vocabulary I have used in the sentences above.
