Usage of the word misery

You know the movie Misery? Because of the movie. We call some girl who is obsessive and bothering all the time like a stalker a misery here in my country, but I cannot find any definitions of it, so I think that this term is being commonly misused in my country or can we use the word like that? And if you don't mind, could you let me know suitable words I can use for someone like the actress in the movie?Emotion: embarrassed

Thank you so much as usual.
