Usage of "the case of"

Hi,

Do these sentences sound o.k. to a native speaker?

1. All buglars fit a certain profile, which was not the case of (which did not apply to) the buglar the police caught yesterday.

2. Wealthy people tend to order expensive meals. This was not the case of the cheap meal Mr. Woods ordered yesterday (this does not apply to the meal)

Thanks !

I testify to that. Only this morning I've seen it used with "of" in a sentence similar to #2 (well, in my book it is similar )

Well, it seems to say that all burglars fit a certain profile, but the burglar caught yesterday doesn't.

Ahh, in that light, it does sound contradictory.

All in all, I wanted to say that the caught buglar is an exception to the rule stated in the first half
