Usage of 'the'

I would like to know well about usage of 'the' now.

Which one is correct in broadcasting fields, on the air or on air ? I think that on the air is correct, but on air is being used a lot, right?

And "You are the best of the best."

I also think that we need the two thes, but many people, especially here, say just best of the best, worst of the worst, etc without one the in front, or is it okay to say those? What do you native English speakers think?

Thank you so much as usual.

Hans51 on air is being used a lot, right? I’m not sure about that, but I’ve heard it. Nevertheless, I suggest that you always include the article.
