Usage of THAT

Hi,

Is this sentence correct?

[ I have received a mail that I am eligible for receiving 15 million dollars. ]

Doesn't it have to be "I have received a mail that SAYS I am eligible for receiving 15 million dollars."?

"? Yes; that would be much better, even though the original is understandable. By the way, mail is uncountable (at least in American English), so you can't have " a mail".

Yes; that would be much better, even though the original is understandable.

By the way, mail is uncountable (at least in American English), so you can't have "a mail". Leave out "a".

Your name would sound better if it is "Calif"....

Hi CJ

Is it correct to use 'mail' in the OP's sentence, as 'mail' refers to the letters and parcels that are delivered?

Thanks.

I think it's acceptable, but I also think that a more specific noun would be better -- received a letter, for example.

It's is interesting. "Email" is countable. We can say/write an email, two emails, three emails, etc, but "mail" is uncountable.
