Usage of tense

Sir, I got to know what third conditional sentences are but we cant they also be said with would and didn't instead of would have and had?

"If I had not slept till 9 Am I would have caught the train. "

How about this way? If I didn't sleep till 9AM I would catch the train. "

Thank you so much for the link. I think I am a step closer to getting my doubt cleared. Very kind of you, sir.

tostyle un If I had not slept till 9 AM, I would have caught the train. tostyle un If I didn't sleep till 9 AM I would catch the train. The first sentence is talking about a single past occasion.

  • tostyle un If I had not slept till 9 AM, I would have caught the train.
  • tostyle un If I didn't sleep till 9 AM I would catch the train.
  • The first sentence is talking about a single past occasion.
  • The second sentence would be talking about habitual behaviour, but the content of the sentence seems rather unexpected for this construction, making it potentially hard to understand.
