Usage of "sham" as a verb

(Ex) Two men are shamming a transaction to deceive other buyers into thinking that the seller's antique watches are very precious.

I know "sham" functions as both an adjective and a verb. Am I using it correctly as a verb? Thanks a lot.

No.

Sham means feign, according to the dictionary and some examples from Google books.
He feigned/shammed illness so he wouldn't have to go to school.

The friar shammed madness in order to extricate himself from a dangerous situation.

After a very serious moral conflict, in which I shammed unhappiness and almost despair, ...

While I shammed fatherly solicitude, she shammed enthusiasm, and thus we urged each other onward by means of a system of mutual deception.

It seems this verb was much more popular around 1900 (Victorian era dramatic writing.)
