usage of shall

Is it okay to ask someone, "Shall I let u know about the party?"

Otherwise, that is OK. (At least, it is OK in British English. Perhaps an AmE speaker could comment on US usage, where I believe "shall" is less used.)

It's not used so often as the simple future present tense this side of the pond, but it's very common in the question form (implied suggestion).
