Usage of "severely"

I have trouble using "severely" in sentences. I know how to use the adjective form of the word.

(1) He had a severe hair loss last week.

(2) I incurred a severe financial loss by making bad investments.

I don't think it's correct to use the adverb form to rewrite them.

(3) He lost his hair severely last week.

(4) I lost money severely by making bad investments.

Do you think "severely" sounds odd in (3) and (4)? Thanks a lot.
