Usage of "ALMOST". Doubt.

0I told my friend that it doesn't exactly mean the same to say "I walked almost two miles today" and to say "I almost walked two miles today". I told him that the first means that you walked like one and a half miles while the second means that you were on a cycle or something and it was so slow and tiring that it was almost like you actually walked.02br

00Does split infinitives have anything to do with this? Cause he claims it is split infinitive or something. As much as I remember, split infinitives are like 01i00to 01b00loudly 02b00shout.02i00 The adverb 'loudly' coming between the split form of the verb shout. Please correct me if I am wrong.02br

00If I have not any context, I'll take your second sentence as "I narrowly escaped walking two miles today".02br
