Usage of "ALMOST". Doubt.

0I told my friend that it doesn't exactly mean the same to say "I walked almost two miles today" and to say "I almost walked two miles today". I told him that the first means that you walked like one and a half miles while the second means that you were on a cycle or something and it was so slow and tiring that it was almost like you actually walked.02br02br00Does split infinitives have anything to do with this? Cause he claims it is split infinitive or something. As much as I remember, split infinitives  are like 01i00to 01b00loudly 02b00shout.02i00 The adverb 'loudly' coming between the split form of the verb shout.
