Usage of "pitch"

Hi, everyone!

I ran into this sentence:

"He pitched me on coming back".

The context was that he coaxed me to come back which I did.

Could you tell me if you're converse with this use of "pitch"? Because I failed to find any meaning close to the one in the sentence.

Thanks !

That's not quite how I'd use pitch. " Look up "sales pitch" as a phrase and see what you think.

That's not quite how I'd use pitch. I'd say something like "He gave me a pitch about coming back" or "He pitched this fabulous story about what it would be like if I came back."

Look up "sales pitch" as a phrase and see what you think.
