Usage of hyphen for "ly" words

Hi

Please advise me whether I have to use hyphen in words involving adverb, e.g., "actively-managed portfolio".

It is not necessary to hyphenate «badly managed». Therefore it is not necessary to hyphenate «actively managed».

I was taught, many years ago, that the modification is hyphenated if it precedes the noun, not hyphenated if it follows.
