Usage of Hyphen

I am studying about usage of hyphen and I was wondering if the rule is consistent or optional and different, depending on people? For example, "open-minded" is used with a hyphen in She is very open-minded, but we also can find an example without a hyphen. So do you think the usage of hyphen is the same and consistent? Thank you so much as always and take good care.

As far as hyphen usages with compound adjective is concerned, it is correct and common. Other than that, I would recommend that learners use other puntuative alternatives.

Where do we find an example without the hyphen? Not in a well-edited source. The word has a hyphen in it. Look in any dictionary.
