(1) A general concern with saving the planet was channeled into ecology and environmentalism, and into organized antinuclear and antiwar demonstration, for examples.

(2) Radicalized students were an effective voice in transforming life on campuses, demanding student government and curricular reform, for examples, and the New Left played a central role in organizing opposition to American involvement in Vietnam.
