Usage of "do"

"I do study English harder."

Some books say that "do" is used to emphasize the verb "study" and some books say that "do" is used to emphasize the sentence "I study English harder".

Which one is right? Or both explanations are fine and in the end, they say the same thing?

Thank you so much as usual and Happy New Year!

I think that the point of view of the speaker and context will determine which is actually being emphasized.
