Usage of "ding"

Hi,

I heard that "to ding" is "to nick" or "to dent" with reference to a car.

Do you use this verb often in your neck of the woods ?

Would this sentence come off as natural ?

She bitched him out for dinging her car while she was at church

Thanks a million for your help !

I'm sure it's used commonly. More common to my ear is its use as a noun. He had a ding in his front door.

That's true. I use the term. It sounds natural to me.
