Usage of "cheesy"

What are the different uses of the word "cheesy"? As in

That movie is cheesy. So-and-So is being cheesy. ..

Would it be fair to say in that a lot of time the word "cheesy", in the usage above, is a euphematic way of expressing snobbery? Or do folks feel it is just someone saying, "booh" based on personal preference?

Cheers, Jayme

'Cheesy', to me, means 'poor quality' or 'cheap'. A "cheasy movie" would be a movie that was obviously made on a VERY low budget.

Snobbery has nothing to do with it, IMHO. If only because the images the word conjures in this usage are decidedly low-class.

To me, "cheesy" means "unintentionally hyperbolic". A movie is cheesy when it is bad but doesn't have fun with the badness.

Has "cheesy" replaced "chintzy"? Maybe it has. Chintzy came from being made of cheap, shiny fabric, chintz.
