Usage of "Can you please help me in understanding"

I want to know if the usage of "can you please help me in understanding" correct.

I believe this is incorrect, but I am unable to find details about it.

Thanks.

“can you please help me in understanding this sentence” is not very good English, but it is understandable. It would be better to say “Can you please help me to understand this sentence?” But best of all would be: “Can you please explain this sentence to me?”
