Usage of "be"

What I wanted to mention in the following sentence is that no matter whether someone sopping in person or online, modern people could enjoy that. In contrast, people in the past didn't have such a luxury. Therefore, I would really appreciate it if someone could let me know whether the meaning of the following sentence is in line with the idea that I wanted to express and it is grammatically correct.

For example, though purchasing goods was a bit challenging task in the past, contemporary consumers could experience enjoyable shopping experience be it online or in person.

For example, though (the task of) purchasing goods was a bit challenging ~~task~~ in the past, contemporary consumers ~~could~~ can experience an enjoyable shopping experience be it online or in person.

"be it" is quite old-fashioned, and, to my ear, a bit pretentious, but it is correct in your sentence. I would substitute "whether" for "be it".

Most editors will squirm when they read "experience ... an experience", and they will ask for a change. The repetition of the same or very similar words so close together in a text is regarded as something to be avoided. I would redo that part.
