I sympathize with you, but am not myself a technician. If I am correct in my assumption and you are sending the computer owner a message: "Your cable seems to be disconnected." I appreciate your advice. Actually, I was checking technical information and was reporting a problem to a customer in onther country. In fact, the problem was more complicated one. So I needed to pay extra attention to my sentences.
I will avoid using a simple tense when making those kind of replies.
