Usage in these examples


1) That day that he lost his temper, he terrified the neighbours.

2) What annoys me is that day he said he had no money, he'd been to the bank.


Is the comma right on these? Is 2 a comma splice.

What annoys me is that day he said he had no money (complete sentence, even though it sort of doesn't make logical sense)





Are commas optional on these examples or a rule? Would they be wrong without the commas.

The first two I'd not have used a comma before 'to plant crops', nor 'when you read the words'.


What do you think of, when you read the words“slasher movie”?

The group dug them over, pulling down hedges and filling in ditches, to plant crops.
