I'd like to know whether #1 is acceptable or not. If not, why? Thanks a lot.

No, number 1 is not grammatical.
Take out the first part and you have "Adverisements... trying" instead of "Advertisements... try."

Not acceptable. Grammatically #1 fails. The tense is either simple present or continuous.
Try reversing the order of the two elements:
Advertisements trying to influence our emotions, as well as give us information.
Present continuous participle can’t stand alone. It needs “are”.

Cross posted, didn't see early response.

Here is another example: He is an excellent teacher as well as being a fine musician. I get it from 'one look dictionary search'. Is it not grammatical? Thanks again.

Thein Lwin 7291He is an excellent teacher as well as being a fine musician.
It's grammatical, but "being" can certainly be omitted to better effect.

I have reconsidered the three examples and changed my opinion, with apologies. In the following sequence, they sound acceptable. The introductory clause should still be first.
As well as trying to influence our emotions, advertisements give us information.
As well as wasting his time, he spent all his money.
As well as being a fine musician, he is an excellent teacher.

I don't consider this grammatical. I can't explain why the textbook does.
In that order, it would need to be "He spent all his money and wasted his time as well."

As well as wasting his time, he spent all his money. In that order, it does work.
