usage

(I asked this question 2 days ago & it seems to have disappeared. How do I find out if anyone has answered it?)
Is it proper to say, "I did something as best as possible?" My ear says it should be "as well as possible," but I see best in newspapers and emags.

If it was answered, you should have gotten a notice.

However, as to your sentences: I am not happy with either of them. Let me make some suggestions:

Let us use "job" as the "something":
I did the best job possible. (modifying "job")
(OR, in standard order: I did the best possible job.)

However, I think it would be acceptable also to use "
