Usage

'..., whose voice, though not as melodius, is more sonorous'
1. is whose a dependent marker?
2.'though not as melodius' : what is this? a non essential phrase? Is it a phrase as an adjective then? And are phrases allowed too not have a subject or a verb then?
3. Are the 3 commas in the correct place?
