U.S.., two periods?

Hi,

If I want to use "U.S." in the end of a sentence, should I use two periods after the "S" ? For example:

There is a lasting friendship between our country and the U.S..

One period is for S., and one period is for the sentence.

Hi,

No: only one period at the end. It can be either and the U.S. OR and the US.

Usually, I simply write: US.
