think there are differences between the below sentences as I was told off what I used is not applicable
go figure...

I am the only adult out of 10 children.(US English?)

I am the only adult among the 10 children.(UK English?)

We try not to use the shortened 'chat-talk' in this forum, since we are all trying to improve our English.

I can't speak to UK English usage, so I hope someone else can help with that, but I should have said that the second sentence is correct as well, in
