To initial my study in this field, I would like to enter the master’s program in biostatistics at University of Alberta under the supervision of Prof. Tom Smith, for the following reasons: The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at Alberta has the unique academic offering – a large number of professors and graduates, comprehensive course curricula, active research seminars and colloquia, many distinguished honours and awards achieved by the department members. And Prof. Tom Smith is one of several leading researchers in this department whose interests perfectly match mine. I will NOT start applying to other graduate schools until I hear from Alberta. I am eager to apply my academic preparation and enthusiasm in Alberta’s program.
