Urgent!! PhD motivation letter!

Hi! I would really need help with my motivation letter, I posted this already ysterday, but unfortunately I would need it quite quick. Thanks already for your help!
John

Dear Miss Smith,

I am writing to javascript:void(0) PhD position in Material Sciences and Engineering at the RGSL. This position is proposed by the Laboratory of Composites and javascript:void(0) (LTC) of Prof. Rill and deals with the development of novel javascript:void(0) for microfluidic devices.

I graduated in Micro and Nanotechnologies during this year. During my studies, I became very interested in microsystems, their challenges and their application for medical devices.

Recently, I did an internship for Poster SA, a Swiss company based in Lausanne, specialized in medical devices for drug delivery and diagnostics. I worked on the development of a new device for the measurement of the time of coagulation of blood, under the guidance of Dr. Jack Kerter. In particular, my work consisted in the study and the characterization of the properties of a Silicon based polymer called PDMS-XB. It is a thermo-expandable actuator, which can be used in microfluidic devices. My work has been valuable for the people continuing the project since I provided data on the dynamic expansion of heated membranes as well as intrinsic material properties, using the Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) of the javascript:void(0). This information is used at present for the fabrication of a prototype.

During this year, I also did my master project under the guidance of Professor Osper, in electronics engineering (analog microelectronics). I designed a chip with very good characteristics which will be used for a prototype at the GZRT. This work has been very valuable for me since I learnt how to manage complexity and how to organize my work.

In 2007, I did my semester project in the Material Science Institute of Barcelona. I was in charge of an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). I worked in close collaboration with researchers to help them to characterize the surface properties of new materials. I learnt a lot about imaging, data processing and interpretation of the measurements, in particular in the domain of new materials.

From 2006 to 2008, I did my Master in Micro and Nanotechnologies for javascript:void(0) (MNIS), in three different universities, including RGSL. In this context, I studied the working principle and the physics of various microsystems. My interest went especially to bio-medical devices since they require a lot of knowledge from many disciplines, from chemistry and biology to material science. I could also increase my English skills since all courses were given in English.

My educational background and work experience has also allowed me to gain extensive knowledge in the domain of microsystems, particularly in medical device development. Subsequently, my education and experience makes me a highly qualified and valuable member for the position quoted above.

Thank you very much for considering my application and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

I am not a native English speaker, however, I have recently been writing a lot of applications for PhD programs (I am a Theoretical Physics student). I hope my corrections/comments help. Good luck!
