Upstairs

Two of my friends are working upstairs.

Information:

I work on the fifth floor of a building and that's where I am when I say this.

One of the two friends I'm talking about works on eight floor while the other works on the ninth.

With the information in mind, is "upstairs" okay in the sentence? Do you think it's okay to refer to both the friends as working upstairs even though they don't work on the same floor?
